Utah Tourism Day on the Hill – Wed. Feb. 1, 2012

Register now for UTIC’s annual Tourism Day on the Hill.  This annual event is vital to show Utah Senators and Representatives that the tourism industry in Utah is united in its appreciation for the legislature’s support of the appropriation to the Tourism Marketing Performance Fund.  It also supports our mission of “speaking with one voice” and informing Utah’s elected officials of the importance of tourism economic development in each of Utah’s 29 counties.  Click on the link to download the registration form:   2012 tdh reg copy

UTIC travels to Washington, DC

A delegation of tourism professionals from Utah participated in US Travel Association’s recent Grassroots Boot Camp and also visited with all of Utah’s congressional delegation in Washington, DC.  The importance of communicating tourism economic development with all levels of elected officials was stressed at the Boot Camp.  Discussions included the Visa Waiver program, security at airports, funding for the national tourism advertising & marketing program and travel advocacy.

We met with each member of Congress:  Senator Orrin Hatch, Senator Mike Lee and Representative Rob Bishop, Representative Jason Chaffetz and Representative Jim Matheson as well as many of their staff members.   All expressed their interest in and  support for our industry.

Scott Beck and Rep. Carol Spackman-Moss

Utah’s 5th Tourism Day on the Hill (TDH) with Utah legislators and elected officials was held Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011 and was a great success!  The annual “Picnic in the Rotunda” included the Utah Office of Tourism and destination marketing organizations and exhibitors from around the state in the Capitol Rotunda.   Special guests, the Flying Aces provided an aerial acrobat show starter that captured everyone’s attention!   TDH was an impressive indication of the tourism industry’s support for continued state investment in advertising and marketing funds for tourism economic development in Utah.
