This top position requires an entrepreneurial spirit, a team player mentality, and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships. The successful candidate will possess great people skills, creativity, and energy and be politically savvy. The position can be located anywhere in Utah. UTIC Executive Director
Job Description
Full-time Executive Director, benefits include a negotiable, paid vacation
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Administration: Accounting functions using Quickbooks Pro (A/R, A/P, banking, financial reports, etc.) or other accounting software; membership development and retention; UTIC membership, Executive Committee & Board meetings; web site update & development to serve as communication tool for the industry; produce and distribute monthly e-newsletter. Preparation and distribution of Annual Report and Business Plan.
- Legislative Affairs: tracking, reporting and assisting UTIC’s lobbyist with the legislative process to protect and enhance Utah tourism industry interests; coordinate efforts for funding appropriation request to advertise & market Utah tourism; participate in annual legislative session: attend hearings, committee meetings; testify on behalf of UTIC, preparation of position statements; attend legislative events, fundraisers, register as a lobbyist for UTIC. Participate in interim session committee meetings & hearings
- Travel: Statewide travel necessary to attend meetings and events of a political nature, and to grow the membership roles
- Communication: coordinate with the Utah Office of Tourism, CVB’s, county travel councils, tourism associations and private sector tourism businesses; elected officials and legislators
- Outreach efforts with tourism groups
- Presentations on UTIC & legislative issues
- Plan, develop and implement:
- Annual Utah Tourism Conference in conjunction with the Utah Office of Tourism
- Utah Tourism Day on the Hill during the legislative session
- UTIC legislative affairs fundraiser
- Other duties as requested by the President of UTIC.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The Executive Director should have knowledge of management, office and organizational skills; and basic computer skills.
Educational requirements:
- College Degree or commensurate experience in Association Management.
- Communication training or experience.
- Business management skills. (finance, marketing, selling programs, organization, planning)
- Knowledge of legislative processes, preferred
- Inter-personal relationship skills. (customer service)
- Knowledge of current technology. (computers, etc.)
- Preferred, but not mandatory skills:
- Proven promotional abilities/success increasing membership/image of organization.
- Experience with Quickbooks, Outlook Express, MS Word
